Just a quick update! Elphie is now taking steps by herself! She is also cutting new teeth on top (did I already tell you about those)? She took her first steps on Friday. I'm so proud! Finally! Blah. I'm starving. I'm at my new job out in B.F.E. Lincolnton. Two jobs, twice the money. What is up? Not a whole lot here, I got my girlbaby in my lap, and I'm waiting for Rick to get home from school. I feel like this is going to be a slow week. Not sure yet, but we'll see.

Rick and I are going back to Granite Falls today to see about the apartment. The lady wanted me to call her Friday, but I couldn't get ahold of her so we're just going to go there. They are only open 3 hours a day (wtf?), so it's a small window to get things accomplished.

So I was thinking. I have been thinking. About another baby. Right now, I am not on depo, because the doctor wanted me to take some hormone pills so I'd get my period, and then start depo, so that I'd start out "at zero hormones". And what I've been thinking is that maybe I don't want to go back on depo, since it can take up to 18 months for it to get out of your system and be able to conceive again. I'm thinking of using that Nuva (spelling?) Ring, since that doesn't stay in your system. I'm not wanting to get pregnant NOW but I really want Elphie and our next baby to only be about 2 years apart, so I'm thinking about starting to try again this Winter or next Spring.

What do you think? Bad idea? Rick will have graduated from college by then, and we'll have our own place, and should be doing alright. Of course, if something happens and we end up not being able to afford a second one, we wouldn't try. But if things are going the way we think they will, I think I'd like to try for another girl.

Speaking of whom, I'm already ahead of my own game. I've found this new crib-thing called the Amby Baby Motion Bed. It is kind of like a baby hammock. It is expensive on the website, but there are cheaper, used ones on ebay. I've heard a lot of good things about it. I dunno. Still gotta wait a while for it.

I found a glider in the Iwanna that Rick and I are going to look at today. It'll go in Elphie's bedroom, of course. I hope it is decently nice. We'll see. We also will have a crib for her --elphie is biting my arm, lol-- once we get into the apartment. This means she wont have to sleep in a play pen anymore, lol. Elphie is kissing her reflection in a small handheld mirror over and over.

I am still only working 4 days a week (Thursday-Sunday), so I'm going to go to the mall this week and start looking for another (second) job. Well, Rick's here now and I've written enough, so goodbye!

Friday, May 19, 2006

Hey everyone. Just letting you know that I updated xanga.com/elphiesmom. I gotta go!

FINALLY!

Okidoke. So. Long time, no posty-posty.

Why the "FINALLY!"? Well, it is because Ricky and I are finally getting an apartment! We've signed all the papers, we are just waiting for the OK to move our stuff. I am very glad to finally have our own space, our own place, but it feels kind of overwhelming.

It also means that we have to start packing. I'm supposed to be doing just that right now. I've been wrapping Elphie's porcelin things up with old Times magazine pages and bubble wrap. From our room, it is mostly clothes, clothes, and more clothes that need to be moved. As for big things, we have the huge computer desk, two dressers, the bed, and the nightstand. As of late, we've spent as much as we could bare on things we'd need once on our own: towels, dishes, shower curtains, pans, trash cans, this and that, etc etc. All of that is already packed up.

All we need now is a microwave, toaster, and tupperware. At least, that's all I can think of. I'm sure that once we're on our own, and not using my dad's stuff, we'll think of more. I really really need to go through all of our clothes and get rid of what we don't need/can't use. Especially Elphie's clothes. I'm not sure what to do with my maternity stuff yet, because Ricky and I will probably start working on another baby next Summer, since he'll be graduated and all. I dunno.

Anyway, the best part of moving is that Elphie will have HER OWN ROOM! This means that Rick and I won't be so crowded! It's hard to fit all of our stuff AND her stuff into the same room. I'm sure I've said all that before.

Well, I guess I should get back to wrapping and packing. See you guys around.

Wednesday, May 17, 2006

Rick's Grandpa sent this to me, it's really sweet:

A newborn's conversation with God.

A baby asked God, "They tell me you are sending me to earth tomorrow, but how am I going to live there being so small and helpless?"

God said, "Your angel will be waiting for you and will take care of you."

The child further inquired, "But tell me, here in heaven I don't have to do anything but sing and smile to be happy."

God said, "Your angel will sing for you and will also smile for you. And you will feel your angel's love and be very happy."

Again the child asked, "And how am I going to be able to understand when people talk to me if I don't know the language?"

God said, "Your angel will tell you the most beautiful and sweet words you will ever hear, and with much patience and care, your angel will teach you how to speak."

"And what am I going to do when I want to talk to you?"

God said, "Your angel will place your hands together and will teach you how to pray."

"Who will protect me?"

God said, "Your angel will defend you even if it means risking its life."

"But I will always be sad because I will not see you anymore."

God said, "Your angel will always talk to you about Me and will teach you the way to come back to Me, even though I will always be next to you."

At that moment there was much peace in Heaven, but voices from Earth could be heard and the child hurriedly asked, "God, if I am to leave now, please tell me my angel's name."

God said, "You will simply call her, "Mom."

Thursday, May 04, 2006

SHE DID IT! Elphie stood without holding on to anything! Can you believe it?

Ok, time for work.

Thursday, April 13, 2006

What's up, everyone? Caiti commented on yesterday's entry, and told me about an upcoming Walmart in Granite Falls. If any of you know of Granite, then I am not the only one thinking "Have the people planning the new Walmart even been to the new site yet? Have any of them seen Granite Falls?" Granite Falls: The town so small it's town square is a triangle. LITERALLY.

I won't complain, though, because I love Walmart. I know there are a gazillion reasons to hate them: they kill other businesses, which makes people lose their jobs, they outsource, blah blah blah. What matters to me is that when I go to Walmart, all of a sudden I can afford to put diapers on Elphie and feed my family. I never buy anything in the other sections, other than hangars and storage bins, just because they don't have anything I want other than baby stuff and food.

My job is going well. Turns out I have another day of training, but Friday I am DEFINITELY on to work. Tomorrow, I will spend most all of my time in the kitchen, learning what the foods look like by site. I hate seafood, so I'm not sure what many of them look like. I am so glad I got a new job. It is awesome.

*yawn* Well, I am hungry and I think I'm going to go figure out breakfast for Elphie and me. I hope everyone is having a good day, but it's still early so maybe it is too early to tell.

Oh wait. ELPHIE IS TEN MONTHS OLD TODAY! This means that in TWO months, only two months, I will be at a big party, celebrating an awesome little girl's first birthday. AWESOME. Actually, we'll prolly celebrate on the 10th of June. Lemme know if you wanna come!

Another Update, Holy Cow!

What the heck is the Broadway font? This is it. Well. Not that interesting, now was it? I am sure that this one is not any better. Ok, last one. dude why are all of these fonts in bold? Seriously, last one. Ok, maybe not. Edda has to be better, right? NO. I will write in Roman. DUDE FINE I WILL USE TAHOMA SINCE I KNOW I LOVE IT.

Anyway. What is up with you guys? Me? Just screwing around with fonts. This one is a little big, but oh well. I think I'm going to head to bed in a few minutes anyway.

Trebuchet MS is the best next to Tahoma. ANYWAY MILLIE IS GOING TO STOP TALKING ABOUT FONTS OR ELSE.

Stephen called us today, and he is prolly going to bail on us about the apartment. It sucks, because I am crazy about him (he's my best friend), but oh well. We know a two-bedroom that is at a good price that we LOVED, so we'll go for that one. I prolly talked about it before. The one in Granite Falls. Yeah, that one. Well, I am going to go to bed now. See you guys. I wore myself out with all those fonts.

Not as big an update as I'd planned

Hi everyone. I havne't posted a real entry in forever, so here goes.

I got a second job, as you guys already know. It is at a seafood restaurant near my dad's house. I've only trained so far; Sunday is my last day of training and then I start work Thursday.an I'll be working nights, Thursday-Sunday. Awesome. I'll make more in an hour there (tips and all) than I'll make in three hours at VS. I'll still work at VS, but only in the mornings, mostly. I figure I can handle 4 nights/week at the restaurant and two days/week at VS. That way I can keep my discount.

Rick, Stephen, and I are going to get an apartment. We have it down to two that we have to pick between. We saw one near St Stephen's yesterday, and we are going to look at another in conover this Friday. We already have the info on it, we just haven't looked in it yet. Both will cost less than $650/month for a three-bedroom, two-bath. AWESOME.

DUDE I AM HUNGRY TIME TO GO EAT
